Construction Works Gaining Momentum in Tashkent Pharma Park

This August 31, consultants of the Export-Import Bank of Korea paid a visit to Uzbekistan within the first stage of the project to create Tashkent Pharma Park Innovative Research-Production Pharmaceutical Cluster.

On September 1-2, representatives of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency held meetings with the Korean consultants, during which a number of issues were discussed, in particular regarding construction work on the territory of Tashkent Pharma Park Innovative Research-Production Pharmaceutical Cluster.

The project manager and architect, as well as consultants for equipment and project planning and pharmaceutical education attended the meetings from the Korean side.

Assistant to the Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, leading specialist of the International Department of the Agency, Deputy Head of the Department for Cooperation with Korea of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, consultants for construction work and IT represented the Uzbek side.

We should mention, the project of Tashkent Pharma Park Innovative Research-Production Pharmaceutical Cluster stipulates for the construction of several objects on its territory, including an administrative building, a university, a pharmaceutical product examination laboratory, a research center, a vivarium, an IT center, etc.

On the first day of the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of issues and special attention was paid to the stages of the project. The first stage of the project envisages the construction and equipment of study blocks, research laboratories, and IT center.

The parties also focused on the issues regarding the university to be built on the territory of the pharmaceutical cluster, particularly, a specialization of the university, number of departments and areas of study.

On the second day, the guests visited the territory of Tashkent Pharma Park cluster, and also got acquainted with the production site of Jurabek Laboratories JV LLC, one of the major manufacturers of pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan. After a detailed review, the parties agreed to jointly determine the name of the components and the total volume of construction work within the first stage.

At the end of the visit, the Uzbek and Korean sides agreed on closer cooperation for the successful implementation of this broad-scale project.
