The international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca expresses its interest in supporting and developing the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan. Taking into account the accumulated long-term experience in the development and production of drugs for the treatment of lung diseases, metabolic disorders, oncological and cardiovascular diseases, orphan diseases, AstraZeneca is ready to assist and participate, together with the Agency, in the formation and implementation of educational programs for the training of specialists in the pharmaceutical industry in a wide range of areas, especially within the framework of the practical aspects of the development and production of medicines with the involvement of foreign experts and teachers.
The matter of investment in local production, including within the framework of contractual relations with local producers, was discussed in detail by the parties of the meeting. As international experience shows, the localization of production is largely stimulated by the presence of counter obligations on the part of the state, as well as opportunities for public procurement of localized drugs, so that the parties to the discussion take into account. At the same time, according to AstraZeneca, it also makes sense to consider investments in diagnostics, digitalization and improvement of patient routing within the healthcare system as backbone.
AstraZeneca has extensive experience in supporting and developing local biotechnology and digital start-ups in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals in many countries and offers the Agency its expertise in assessing and supporting development to enter the market and further introduce local medical start-ups into medical practice.
Given the wide range of activities within the framework of work in Uzbekistan, AstraZeneca informed the Agency about the desire to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to form a platform for many years of fruitful cooperation in the interests of patients and the healthcare system.
Based on the results of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing further work within the framework of close business contacts and forming areas for cooperation in the short and medium term.
