On April 26, 2019, the Agency on Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a business meeting with members of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers.

A round table held within the business meeting discussed the issues concerning the implementation of the tasks stipulated in Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PD No. 5707 dated April 10, 2019. Representatives of more than 30 foreign pharmaceutical companies, as well as the leadership of the Agency on Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and representatives of its subordinate divisions attended the meeting. Director of the Agency on Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Sardor Kariev, and the head of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, Mukhabbat Askarova acted the moderators of the meeting. 

The meeting participants discussed a number of issues, including the introduction of international standards in the pharmaceutical industry, establishing the practice of informing suppliers of pharmaceutical products on the quantities of certified pharmaceutical products on open sites, widely informing on the work of the  pharmaceutical industry control, modernizing and improving the material and technical base of government-based laboratories in accordance with international standards, certification of pharmaceutical products, government procurements, the introduction of contract manufacturing and franchising of brand products, as well as the issues on the use by domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers of trade names of patented brand companies.
