Indian Investor Submitted to the President of Uzbekistan a Project on ‘Creating a Plantation for Medicinal Plants

With the aim of further expanding international cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry in the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and attracting foreign direct investment, in November 2018, the Uzbek-Indian NovoPharm LLC JV initiated an investment project in the Boysun Pharm free economic zone in Surkhandarya region. The project estimated at 10 million USD.

During the visit of the President of the country to Surkhandarya region on May 1 this year, a foreign investor held a presentation of two successful stages of the project - the production of solid and liquid dosage forms.

At the same time, the joint venture plans to start production of injection preparations in the form of powder and herbal preparations based on medicinal plants. For this, it is necessary to establish the process of growing and processing medicinal herbs.

To this end, the Indian investor submitted to the President of Uzbekistan a project on ‘Creating a plantation for medicinal plants’ and made a proposal to allocate 10 hectares of irrigated land for growing medicinal plants. Sardor Kariev, Director of the Agency on Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, was assigned the responsibility for development of the project, its implementation and assistance to the investor.
