Uzbekistan Delegation led by Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov Visited the Republic of Korea to Further Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry

According to the Department of Public Relations of the Ministry of Health, the Uzbek delegation met with the leadership of Eulji University. They provided the Korean side with information on the positive events taking place in the country in recent years, including the development of medical tourism, and those favorable conditions created for attracting foreign investors to our country. In turn, the Korean side expressed interest in creating a branch and clinic of the Eulji University in Uzbekistan. The head of Eulji University Sung-Hee Hong said that she planned to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to discuss this project. Following the talks, the sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The delegation also visited the Biopharma Cluster, which has been operating in Osan for 20 years. Uzbek specialists familiarized themselves with the activities of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies, research institutes, clinics, laboratories and venture funds located in the territory of the cluster. During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and medicine.
In particular, it was noted that the Korean experience is an example of the development of the health system of Uzbekistan, and that cooperation in this area will also contribute to the work of modern pharmaceutical clusters, which are planned to be created in our country together with Korean colleagues.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to create a working group to prepare the Road Map for the creation of pharmaceutical clusters in Uzbekistan. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan and the head of Biopharma Cluster bolstered this agreement.

In general, the visit of the Uzbek delegation to the Republic of Korea served as the basis for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
